Team in Training

A few months ago a good friend of mine completed his first Triathlon in Maui. He was a part of Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in training. I was intrigued by the program and did some research.

TNT is LLS's largest fundraiser, they offer professional training for marathons, cycling, and triathlons for participants. We each raise money for LLS during our training and complete a large race at the end wearing purple proudly! I couldn't pass up this opportunity and signed up in June for:

Walt Disney World Marathon on January 13th(26.2 Miles!)

I ran my first official race (since middle school) on June 2nd at the Wichita River Festival's 2-Mile River Run with a large group of friends. We all trained and I really began to fall in love with the sport. Unfortunately, during that race while dodging strollers and toddlers, I fractured my ankle. Maybe ninja jumping off of curbs during a race is a bad idea...

I was in denial for several weeks and continued training for the Prairie Fire half marathon on October 14th (13.1 Miles). But after my first long group run, 4 miles, my ankle was in terrible shape. I couldn't even go to work that day. I went to the doctor the following Monday, took X-Rays and found out that it was officially a fracture and I would need to be off of my feet for a minimum of 10-12 weeks. Luckily that time is up on August 27th! Right before my TNT training begins!

I have done a couple of power walks/jiggy jogs in the mean time and taken up Yoga consistently to improve my strength in other areas.

You can find more information about TNT and LLS on my fundraising page:

I'll be updating weekly about my training!
